“Abuse Occurs in Isolation,
Recovery Shouldn't”

~ The Valor Institute, Inc.

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving clients (peers) who are healing from dissociative disorders of a traumatic origin. Our ValorNet communities specifically serve those clients (peers) and their therapists who are working together to overcome Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (DDNOS).

We have designed a peer-to-peer community frame for clients (peers) and their family members (support peers) based on education, sharing and social functions that can be enjoyed in a compassionate, caring environment. For those clients (peers) who may not be ready for community concepts and meetings with other peers, our meeting agendas, tools and knowledgebase are available behind secure, password protected on-line access.

The Valor Institute, Inc. does not offer therapy and our services are not a replacement for professional therapy. They are designed to support the therapeutic environment. In fact, Valor communities are built with the collaboration and support of local therapists who engaged in the implementation and design process. We owe a great deal of our development success to the local therapists who shared their time, talents and expertise in dissociative disorders to make this undertaking possible. The following individuals have our deepest gratitude for their willingness to embrace something new and different for the benefit of our members.

  • Kathy Steele, MN, CS
  • Shari Hamming, LPC
  • Robin Day, LPC
  • Ellen Klein, MSW
  • Natalie Kohlhaas , LPC
  • Sheri Miller, LMSW
ValorNets

Our primary ValorNet (therapists and peers) frame was introduced in the summer of 2008. We are establishing our ValorNetCare Partner, ValorNetBiz Partner and ValorNetHope Partner programs to further support peers and therapists.

Our ValorNetCare Partner Program is represented by medical, dental and other healthcare professionals, spiritual leaders from local churches, synagogues and tabernacles and financial/legal professionals who have been referred to our organization by its members.

Our ValorNetBiz Partner Program is comprised of local businesses and merchants who represent our business-to-business network supporting all members affiliated with our organization.

Our ValorNetHope Partner Program is represented by individuals and organizations who donate directly to The Valor Institute, Inc. in support of our peer, community and public education initiatives. Click here to find out more about how you can help sponsor NetHope.

With the successful introduction of our networks, our development frame will be extended to support the creation of chapters in other cities which have similar interests in a comprehensive recovery frame for dissociative clients, specifically those who are diagnosed with DID/DDNOS and are healing from a traumatic past.
