Tara Williams, Ph.D.

Dr. Williams received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1995 and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M University in 2001. She completed her two year post- doctoral fellowship in the Trauma Disorders Program at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and subsequently worked as a psychologist in that program for four years. She has also worked in the Center for Post-Traumatic Disorders Program at the Psychiatric Institute of Washington.

Dr. Williams specializes in the treatment of complex PTSD and dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder. She works within both cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic paradigms of treatment. She has received extensive supervision and consultation from experts in the field including Dr. Richard Loewenstein, Dr. Christine Courtois, and Dr. Richard Cheftez. Dr. Williams is an active member of the International Society of the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD - formerly the International Society for the Study of Dissociation) and is currently the Public Relations co-chair of that organization. She is also currently conducting research on Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Dr. Williams has been approved to teach the ISSTD’s Dissociative Disorders Psychotherapy Training Program (DDPTP) with Ellen (Rusti) Klein of Athens GA.

The course runs from September to May of each year, and is geared towards providing clinicians with a foundation for treating Dissociative Identity Disorder and DDNOS.

Shari Hamming, LPC

Shari Hamming, LPC is a graduate of Brenau University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (1988). Mrs. Hamming earned her Masters Degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State University in 1991 and has been actively engaged in private practice for over 17 years with a specialty in Post Traumatic Stress Disorders, DID/DDNOS, Mood Disorders and Anxiety Disorders. She has previous teaching experience with Oglethorpe University, The Hi-Hope Center in Lawrenceville and the Anxiety Disorders Institute of Atlanta. She is an active member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, the American Counseling Association and is nationally certified.

Christen G. Herrick, PhD

Dr. Herrick received her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology and her Master's in Counseling from the University of North Dakota. Dr. Herrick works primarily in individual therapy with adolescents and adults at the St. Alexius Medical Center, Archway Mental Health Clinics. She has assessment and therapeutic experience with self-injurious behaviors, family of origin issues, attachment concerns, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, depression disorders, anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, and bipolar disorders. She is an active member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.

Lisa Klinger, LPC

Lisa Klinger is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. In 1995, she received a Master of Education in Community Counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma. Lisa has 14 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings. She has worked for many years in both day treatment and hospital settings with mentally ill children, adolescents, and their families. She has also worked in the state community counseling centers with chronically mentally ill clients. Lisa is a co-founder of Sheltered Cove Counseling Center and has treated clients there since 2001. She has experience working with people of all ages in individual, family, and marital counseling. Her specific areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, low self-esteem/assertiveness, PTSD, grief, anger management, stress management, co-dependency issues, parenting, and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents.

Kathy Kelly, MDiv, LPC is a licensed professional counselor. JoAnn M. Majesky, LCSW

JoAnn Majesky obtained her Master of Social Work degree from the Catholic University of America, 1994. She has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1996 and has received training in Psychotherapy, Ego State Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, and Imagery in addition to the following speciality training: Certified EMDR II Therapist since 1997 (trained under Francine Shapiro), Advanced EMDR training under Deany Laliotis, 2000, and extensive training in the Trauma Model, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Dissociative Disorders, 1994. Kathy Steele, MN, CS

Kathy Steele, M.N., C.S. is in private practice, and is Clinical Director of Metropolitan Counseling Services in Atlanta. She has served as President of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, is a Fellow of that organization, and has received a Distinguished Achievement Award and two writing awards for publications in the field from ISSTD, as well the 2006 Emory University Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from the School of Nursing. For the past six years, she served on the Board of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. Kathy is a frequent international presenter and has authored or co-authored numerous publications on trauma and dissociation. She and her Dutch colleagues, Onno Van der Hart and Ellert Nijenhuis, have written an award winning book that is part of the Norton Series on Interpersonal Neurobiology: The Haunted Self: Structural Dissociation of the Personality and Treatment of Chronic Traumatization, Norton, 2006. Ms. Steele is a Founding Member of The Valor Institute, Inc.

Ellen Klein, MSW

Ellen Klein is a graduate of Oglethorpe University and received her MSW from Boston University School of Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist with over 35 years of professional experience and 22 of those years focused in treating DID/DDNOS. She is a Diplomate, American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work and a Certified Group Psychotherapist. Mrs. Klein is a Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISST-D), founder of the Athens Component Group of the ISST-D, and Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee for the National Association of Social Workers-Georgia. Mrs. Klein also serves as a lecturer for other mental health professionals. Her private practice focuses on Dissociative Disorders, Trauma and Recovery, Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Eating Disorders, Couples and Parenting Issues and Grief Counseling. Ellen Lacter, Ph.D.

Ellen P. Lacter, Ph.D., RPT-S, MFCC is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, a Registered Play Therapist, and Supervisor, and a Marriage and Family Therapist. She is the Past President of the California Association for Play Therapy. Dr. Lacter is currently Academic Coordinator of the Play Therapy Certificate Program at the University of California, San Diego-Extension where she is also a continuing education instructor, training psychotherapists in play and art therapy techniques in the treatment of trauma. Dr. Lacter has over 30 years of clinical experience and specializes in the treatment of abused children, adolescents, and adults abused as children, Dissociative Disorders, adopted children, and ritual abuse trauma in addition to general practice with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Chris Noble, MA, MS, LPC, NCC

Chris Noble, MA, MS, LPC, NCC is a therapist at the Anxiety and Stress Management Institute in Marietta, Georgia. Chris received her masters degree in Cognitive and Developmental Psychology from Emory University with a research focus on attachment, narrative, and trauma. She obtained a masters degree in professional counseling from Georgia State University and is currently continuing her educational path at Georgia State as a doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology.

Natalie Kohlhaas, M.A., LPC

Natalie Kohlhaas received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia. She is a graduate of the Georgia School of Professional Psychology where she earned her Masters in Psychology with a specialty in Counseling. She completed a comprehensive internship specializing in anxiety and mood disorders at the Anxiety Disorders Institute of Atlanta, Inc. She received specialized training and certification in eating disorders and sexual abuse from Master & Johnson. She was the Associate Director for the Anxiety Disorders Institute Partial Hospitalization Program and Co-Leader for the Trauma and Abuse Resource Program at the Center for Psychological Wellbeing. Robin Day is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Rebecca A. Beaton, PhD

Dr. Beaton is the Founder and Director of The Anxiety & Stress Management Institute, a local comprehensive facility where clients are treated holistically (body, mind, and soul) by mental and physical health professionals who utilize state of the art, research-based treatment modalities. Dr. Beaton graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her doctoral degree is in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University. She is a Licensed Psychologist, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Nationally Board Certified Counselor. She is also a Nationally Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and has been awarded a Diplomat in Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Dr. Beaton has provided psychotherapy for adults and adolescents in a variety of settings since 1991. These settings included: The Anxiety Disorders Institute of Atlanta, the University of Georgia and Georgia State University Counseling Centers, Georgia Baptist Hospital (Stress Management for Physician's Program), Grady Memorial Hospital (Rape Crisis Center), the Atlanta Center for Eating Disorders, and Lockheed Aeronautical System's Employee Assistance Program. Dr. Ritz is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and is an Allied Health Executive Council Member. He co-authored "Suggested Guidelines for the Pre-Bariatric Surgery Psychological Assessment." Dr. Ritz also answers patient questions in OH Magazine and is a member of the inaugural mental health board of obesity.com.
