Art Therapy Atlanta

Virginia DuPre, LPC, ATR, MDiv
Art Therapy Atlanta
114 New Street F1
Decatur, GA 30030
(404) 272-3890

NetBiz Partner Virginia Dupre, LPC, ATR, MDIV and Art Therapy Atlanta provide Individual, Group and Couples Art Therapy in Decatur and the metropolitan Atlanta area. Virginia Dupre is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia and a Registered Art Therapist. She received her Master of Art Therapy from Vermont College of Norwich University and her Master of Divinity from Chandler School of Theology, Emory University.

Art therapy engages clients in creating images and reflecting on images for the sake of insight, growth, and healing. The artmaking that takes place in art therapy is process oriented rather than product oriented. In other words, the artmaking is not always about making something beautiful. Absolutely no art experience is needed to participate in and benefit from art therapy. Since art therapy taps resources we do not usually access without conscious effort, it is a great therapy for anyone who has difficulty in accessing feelings, have experienced trauma in their lives, or those who are 'blocked' in traditional verbal therapy. Ms. Dupre specializes in the use of art therapy with women, survivors of childhood and adult trauma. Images and the creative process facilitate learning about and managing different parts of the personality.

For Professional counselors, Virginia Dupre, LPC, ATR, MDIV also provides professional education classes on Basic Theories and Practices of Art Therapy. Professionals in this workshop are introduced to the use of artmaking and images in therapy. Several art mediums and experiential exercises demonstrate some of the different experiences and feelings particular materials evoke. Professionals are also introduced to ways of understanding art images.
